Is it necessary to have everything in our life and want more? Are we never satisfied with what we get and always expect above ourselves? It is sad to know that every man wants to reach above themselves; everyone is ruled by their so called conscience or perhaps their inner voice. This inner voice can be the sole reason for destruction of many or the same voice can prove itself worthy of the beholder and shows us the success and triumph that is unbelievable but whatever is the case, our inner voice plays a major role in our destruction or construction. Both can be in our favour or both can be against us, this all depends on the kind of human beings we are.
You must be wondering about how and why our inner voice would play a role in our destruction. I had the same thought in my mind, when I first heard about what a danger it could be. Inner voice or our conscience solely depends upon our morals, scruples and values which are engrained within us from our first institution, our mother’s lap. From there, our character construction begins and slowly and gradually, through education, external exposure to this cruel world, we become what we are as grownups. Some people who have lived a very sheltered life turn out to the most abiding, understandable people meaning they listen to their conscience when it scolds them for wrongdoings whereas compared to people who have been their caretaker since an early age, their conscience seems to have died a long time back.
Coming back to my point, why do we want something in life that is not for us? Why do we strive hard and run after everything that clicks us the first minute we set eyes on it? It is our greed, our avarice and our materialism that drives us to the extent where we try to kill our ever present conscience, kill the years of upbringing and effort of our parents to make us who we are. Are the morals that have been drilled within us so weak that we forget them for basic needs of life? Are our parents so insignificant to us that money and fame means more to us than the people who are responsible for giving us a life? It is a fact to ponder upon.
I’ve seen it, I’ve heard it and I’ve experienced it. I know how strong our conscience becomes with time and we all learn to make it our best friend but it is the same conscience that can hover upon our character, bring out our darker side and force us to do something that we don’t want to do. So, it is for you to decide whether you want to be ruled by your conscience or be the one to rule it.
Think about it.
